New Class of Arts Fellows Selected
Last year marked the highly successful launch of the Arts Fellows program, designed to support the scholarly and creative work of UVA faculty and to encourage the creation of new courses that will integrate the arts across the curriculum. This fall a new class of seven new Arts Fellows was announced, including Ted Coffey (Music); David Dalton (Drama); I-Jen Fang (Music); Lydia Moyer (Art); Debra Nystrom (Creative Writing); Christa Robbins (Art); and Katelyn Hale Wood (Drama). Each recipient will receive $10,000 in summer wages that will support research efforts, creative work, and course development. The program encourages individual efforts, as well as encouraging the Fellows to come together regularly and discuss their work and possible collaborative initiatives. The Arts Fellows are chosen based on a school-wide call for proposals and are open to both tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty. The College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences has plans to appoint up to 10 faculty members as Arts Fellows in each of the next 3 to 5 years.
