Arts Grounds Open House Draws Large Crowd
The Betsy and John Casteen Arts Grounds were bustling with activity on Saturday, August 29, when the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts hosted the first annual Arts Grounds Open House. The event drew an estimated crowd of 600 students, who enjoyed traditional barbecue fare while learning about the wide variety of first-rate arts opportunities at UVa. Faculty and staff from each department were on hand to share materials and talk to students prior to a special outdoor screening of the popular a cappella sendup Pitch Perfect. “It was a great evening and a great opportunity to share all we have to offer in the arts, both for prospective arts students and for those who want to take advantage of our programs, exhibitions, events, and performances,” said UVa Vice Provost for the Arts, Jody Kielbasa. “This is yet another step in establishing the Arts Grounds as a destination for students and for all members of our community.”
