Angle Exhibition Fund Paves the Way for Great Art
A new gift of $1M from Carol R. Angle, M.D., long-time member of The Fralin Museum of Art’s Advisory Board, has endowed the Angle Exhibition Fund, which will support future exhibitions at The Fralin. “While serving on the Museum’s Collection Committee, chaired by Ruth Cross, I was inspired to create this endowment. The Angle Exhibition Fund will supplement the Museum’s wide-ranging permanent collection and enhance The Fralin’s efforts to mount outstanding exhibitions. I am a great fan of new and exciting exhibitions, so it was an obvious choice. While travelling on a Museum trip to Cuba more than a decade ago, I learned to recognize both the strengths and needs of our University’s Art Museum and have been an ardent supporter ever since.”
The Museum is committed to creating vibrant and intellectually engaging exhibitions that serve the university student, as well as increasingly diverse community and national audiences. “We are deeply grateful to Carol for recognizing and graciously stepping forward with this generous gift,” remarked Matthew McLendon, The Fralin’s Director and Chief Curator. “It is the first of its kind for our Museum, and it speaks to Carol’s long commitment to The Fralin. This is an example of thoughtful philanthropy that comes from a deep and sustained engagement with the Museum and an understanding of our mission. As we work to expand our programming and engage even larger and more diverse audiences with exhibitions that inspire and reward our visitors, the Angle Exhibition Fund will provide a solid foundation for our work making meaningful connections through the arts.”
